There was so much good information that I am still processing it all but here are some of the cool “sound bites” from some of the sessions yesterday. Enjoy and let God use them how He may in your life…

Before we get into the chart of comparing the seals to Matthew 24, I feel I need to explain a bit more my thoughts surrounding the events laid out in Revelation. My goal is not to figure out what is next or what is going to happen when… really my goal is to look at where we are in the world right now and to have an open mind toward how we might connect that to the prophetic scriptures.

Just like others…

I lean toward certain views when it comes to the rapture, tribulation, and millennial kingdom, but I try to objectively look at things with the understanding that I could be wrong and God could be doing it another way.

It’s this open minded approach that has allowed me develop some possible THEORIES (not facts) about what is happening in our world right now.

As I said in my last post on this topic, I believe we could be moving rapidly toward seals 5 and 6 in Revelation 6. But at the least we are definitely living in a world that looks exactly like what Jesus talked about in Matthew 24. Check out this chart below. Keep in mind that Jesus talked about these situations as being like “birth pains” – gaining strength and frequency as the time nears…

Jesus in Matthew 24

Revelation Seals

For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many…
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. (Matthew 24:5,7 NIV)

I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. (Revelation 6:2 NIV)

Comments About Our World

Some think this talks of one who is sent on creating peace through “conquest.” Many leaders over the last several years have tried to gain peace through war or forced change of leadership. It seems that this increasingly happening around the world with the uprisings that have been and continue to occur.

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. (Matthew 24:6 NIV)

Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword. (Revelation 6:4 NIV)

Comments About Our World

If we look over the last 100 years we have definitely seen an increase in the number and frequency of wars and rumors of wars… Starting with WW1 through Desert Storm in the early 90′s. Even today, there is war going on in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and rumors of wars in the middle east.

(In this passage Jesus does not directly speak to the economic situation)

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!” (Revelation 6:5-6 NIV)

Comments About Our World

Anyone that uses money today can attest to the increasingly bad economic situation that world is in today. But if we look again over the last 100 years, this is not the first time, we’ve had bad economic times. The difference is over the last several years we have seen an increase in the frequency and strength of the hard times.

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places…Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold (Matthew 24:7,12 NIV)

I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth. (Revelation 6:8 NIV)

Comments About Our World

As I look through the news day after day, I am noticing more and more stories regarding people killing people (not just people but family members killing family members), natural disasters, famines, increasingly stronger earthquakes and an increasing number of animals attacking people. Along with that, nations (especially in the middle east) not getting along – threatening attacks, uprisings. Finally it seems (and maybe it’s just my experience) but people seem increasingly more “self-focused” then before. It seems like acts of generosity are not as frequent as they used to be… What do you think?

(Matthew 24 does not refer to any “Throne Room” events like Revelation)

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” (Revelation 6:9-10 NIV)

Comments About Our World

I am not sure how we would know when this seal takes place. The situation takes place in Heaven’s temple at the alter. It might still need to take place but then again it could have already happen…

“Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ (Matthew 24:29 NIV)

I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. (Revelation 6:12-14 NIV)

Comments About Our World

This sixth seal and Matthew 24:29 intrigue me the most. As you read them, notice the incredible similarity between what they say about the sun, moon, stars, and heavens. Now Matthew 24 does not specifically talk of an earthquake but it does say “every mountain and island was removed from its place” – a major earthquake could do that….

I would love to know what you think of my thoughts here. Again my goal is not to figure it all out because the scriptures clearly state that only God knows the true timeline of events. But there is some value in knowing and being aware of what is happening and what is coming today.

I want to make sure that you also don’t get lost in the details… The whole point of all this is that Jesus is coming very, very soon and the hope that is found in that. Don’t lose sight of that hope and expectation of His return or you will become overwhelmed.

My next post will reveal some of the events in the heavens that are happening that could potentially be pointing to the very, very soon return of Christ.

Until then, Keep doing His will and spreading His Gospel…

When we admit our sin and turn away from it, Christ’s love lives in us by the Holy Spirit.
