Every week I get together with a bunch of guys and we are working through the book of Revelation. Today we talked about the 7th bowl judgement. Ouch… I definitely don’t want to be around when that happens. But that lead to an interesting discussion about how people going through that would react….

It all started with a logical question… Put yourself in their shoes, What would that be like and what would you be thinking going through all that?

For reference sake, here is a description of the 7th bowl judgement….

The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!” Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, fell on people. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible. (Revelation 16:17-21 NIV)

Now you know why I said, “Ouch…”

Keep in mind that, in my understanding of Revelation, this happens towards the end of the 7 year tribulation. So one could say this is the worst it gets. This then is followed by the Battle of Armeggedon and the 1000 year reign of Jesus on earth.

But imagine going through this, what do you think people would be thinking or feeling? Would it be so great that only God could be “blamed” or will people try to explain it away? Would it be all about survival for you? Would cursing God or calling out to God even enter your mindset?

Let me know your thoughts….

(excerpted from Hardly worth the effort – Seth Godin’s blog)

In most fields, there’s an awful lot of work put into the last ten percent of quality…

The last ten percent is the signal we look for, the way we communicate care and expertise and professionalism. If all you’re doing is the standard amount, all you’re going to get is the standard compensation. The hard part is the last ten percent, sure, or even the last one percent, but it’s the hard part because everyone is busy doing the easy part already.

The secret is to seek out the work that most people believe isn’t worth the effort. That’s what you get paid for.

I think one of the biggest issues I am struggling with right now is discerning if what I am doing is God’s call on my life or my own path.

I am too much of a control freak that way. It is so hard for me to wait on God to open doors of opportunity. Does anyone else have that issue?

I guess it really comes down to trust. Do I really believe that God has the best intentions for what He is calling me to do? Do I really believe that He knows me well enough to know what I should and should not be doing?

Do I really believe God is who He says He is? Do you?
