You Still Forgive

Darkness falls over me once again
Familiar sin takes control of my weakness
I slip down a slope so slippery
Failure surrounds my every decision

Filled up with guilt from mistakes made
Like a bucket overflowing it’s contents
My heart yearns to break free from the chains
With all that’s happen yet you still forgive

I ache over things that now can’t be changed
But your mercy surrounds like the arms of a hug
A lack of peace with which I am stained
But You still forgive…

A freedom restored and wrongs forgotten
Grace undeserved yet so freely given
A sacrifice was made and again accepted
And when a mistake comes again someday
…You will still forgive

Returning to poetry

I am returning to writing some “psalms” type poetry again. Let me know what you think. If it is bad I can just keep it to myself ( :

Holy Father, in Heaven above
Tender Shepherd who comes near to us
Thank you for the guidance You give
We appreciate Your constant pursuit of us

Create in me ears that hear Your call
Design in my heart a clear direction
With all this is in me I desire to follow
I choose to trust the path You light

My heart breaks in two whenever I stumble
The spirit within me falls a bit more each time
Like a child who fails and upsets a parent
I am saddened by the pain my actions cause

But in repentance there is grace that is given
Forgiveness rains down from Your merciful heart
Though I must bear the results of my choice
In the end I will trust and You will continue to love

Throughout my life, I continue to long for you
My heart deeply desires relationship
I am grateful for grace, mercy, and love
May my life grow to reflect more of you every day

Holy Father, in Heaven above
Tender Shepard who comes near to us
May You love continue to rain down
May our trust in You continue…

Trusting His Provision

Why do I doubt You, oh Lord?
Why do I assume Your “arm is too short?”
I doubt Your ability to provide for me,
but I have no reason to.

You are calling me to a certain path.
God, You have opened so many doors for me.
Father, how can I still think You won’t provide?
That somehow You will let me fall…

Yet, it is You who feeds the sparrow,
it is You, Mighty Creator, who clothes the flowers of the field.
How much more do You love me?
The one You created in Your image for Your purpose.

God, I want to trust when I’m unsure
Father, I know Your provision will come
But, do I really believe?
Mighty Father, help me conquer my disbelief.

Your arm is not too short…

Wanting More Than Darkness

Confusion sets in again
I don’t understand why I desire to be alone
Wanting to draw close,
Yet trying to push them away

What darkness pulls me this way
This thing that takes me from who I am
It is so not me,
And yet through me it comes

Dear God drain this pain from me
Wherever this darkness comes from please block
Fill me with the love you promise.
With Your grace and mercy overflowing

I want the joy I see in others
The ability to truely love and laugh
A passion for life that no on can take
Life fufilling that none change

Through it all

Through all the craziness that this life brings
Running here and meeting there
Lord you call us to your will
Your plan designed for us to do

We do not hear because we can’t
Too distracted by what we think matters
Lord you call us to be still and hear
And we choose not to listen

Through it all You still pursue
Your heart desires to connect with us
If only we would just slow down
And focus on all You have for us
